Legens and Private
It occurs to me that Wizarding culture is in decay. Every witch and wizard should do their part to preserve it. One of the most pressing problems would be clothing. Any man who intends to calls himself a wizard should stop wearing these full-length trousers. They are a Muggle device meant to repress and shackle wizards. It's shameful. Even kilts are becoming less common. And witches should stop dressing so casually. They should wear gowns and stockings, apply make-up and coiffe their hair. Whenever I see a witch with plain hair, nothing on her face, flat shoes, a dress that looks like a nightshirt, and who is obviously not wearing the proper undergarments, my stomach turns.

He hasn't replied to me in a week. I'm so stupid! Why did I have to be so boring and mopey? I probably chased him away forever! Stupid, stupid, stupid! Who am I kidding? I'll never compare with her. She has so much to offer -- pretty, smart, popular, a prefect and a teacher's pet. She's so perfect and I'm nothing. What can I possibly do? Maybe I could convince that prat to help me break them up. No, Potter would rather hex me than listen to a word I have to say. Even if I offered to teach him how to get girls to like him better. Not that he would believe anyone telling him arrogant bullies are decidedly not attractive. Daft, ego-maniacal Gryffindors! They ruin everything!

What I want to know is how you can have a say in what wizards wear. Because last time I checked you were a witch. Maybe trousers are more comfortable ever think of that?

I believe that I am entitled to my own opinions. What's more, Papa complains that full-length trousers are not roomy enough.

One last thing, I would think that a wizard would be concerned with what a witch thinks of his attire.

Well that is true you are entitled your opinion. I suppose it depends on what you are doing. I certainly would not wear a traditional kilt while I was playing Quidditch and I wonder if robes that we do wear don't create drag that slows us down anyway.

But what about a job that requires quick an easy movement like an Auror or if you are in a duel. I would think that robes might get in the way.

And I dress neat enough that I don't think too many witches will complain about my attire. I do concede the point that some of our class mates can be rather sloppy.

Scotsmen do all sorts of athletics in their kilts. Besides, I was denouncing full-length trousers. I don't object to knickerbockers or plus-fours. And plus-fours are often worn for some odd Muggle sport. Also, I've seen Papa duel and win in fur and brocade robes.

Okay. Your father must be one heck of a dueler then. I'd be afraid I'd catch my robes on fire and then I'd be at a distinct disadvantage.

Of course he is! He's Himerus Duncannon, the greatest living wizard today.
